
Vietnam confirmed that a 17-year-oldgirl in the capital city of Hanoi died of A/H1N1 influenza, bringing the total number of flu deaths in the country to 40, said a report on the website of the Ministry of Health on Wednesday.
The girl has history of kidney disease, said the ministry. She was admitted to a district-level hospital on Nov. 5 with fever and coughing.
The patient was transferred to the National Institute of Infectious and Tropical Diseases on Nov. 6 with chest pain and difficulty in breathing. She was treated with Tamiflu. Her sample was tested positive with the A/H1N1 virus.
The patient died on Nov. 7 due to respiratory failure, said the ministry.
The ministry on Tuesday confirmed that Vietnam's A/H1N1 flu patients rose to 10,791. Of the total, 10,459 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, said the ministry.
